The Generation of Hope “Clubhouse in a Box” is a transformative initiative that combines education, vocational skills, and support in a safe and nurturing environment. It is a place for teens to not only learn life-changing skills, but it serves as a club where they are served nutritious meals, hang out, and have fun surrounded by their peers under the leadership of trusted mentors.
The “Clubhouse in a Box” program initially started on a simple porch on Saturdays. They learned English and Bible, and made jewelry in exchange for enough food to feed their families each week. The teens willingly attended and made agreements that they would no longer traffic themselves as a condition of the program. They kept returning each week and the program continued to grow, offering additional educational and life skill courses.
This is where their lifechanging journeys of healing, transformation, and hope truly began – emotionally, physically and spiritually.
Ther Generation of Hope “Clubhouse in a Box” was so successful that it became the focus and birth of Generation of Hope ministry. There are now clubhouses in 8 countries, including: Costa Rica, India, Kenya, Pakistan, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras and Burundi.
“Clubhouse in a Box” is a year-round afterschool program where students can complete 270 classes taught each year at each clubhouse on evenings and weekends. The program offers classes in: Bible, English, Healthy Relationships, Personal Growth, Vocational Skills, and Leadership.
Generation of Hope is not only providing participants and their families with basic necessities, but it is equipping teens with skills that will empower them to provide better lives for themselves in the future.
Although the original program was created to address the trafficking problem among teen girls, Generation of Hope is now available for boys as well. Through their life transformations, they have become catalysts for positive change in the girls’ lives and in their communities.
The Generation of Hope “Clubhouse in a Box” is based on a reward system — the goal is to provide for physical and emotional needs and to grab the interest of the teens through rewards so that they will attend regularly.
Food
A meal is provided every time a student attends a Generation of Hope class. For some, it is their only meal of the day.
Mentorship from Fun Young Directors
Directors are nationals. They are role models and leaders in their communities – and they are people who truly care about them!
Reward Tokens
Tokens are given out for good behavior during classes and while at the clubhouse. They can be redeemed in the Clubhouse Store in exchange for items such as food, hygiene items, makeup, jewelry, earbuds, and many other items teens need or enjoy.
A Safe Place
Many of these teens are not safe in their own homes. The Generation of Hope clubhouse is a place of peace and laughter. It is a relaxed and fun environment for learning.
Field Trips
Rewarded at the end of every Generation of Hope 9-week session for excellent attendance.
Job Opportunities
Certificate programs earned through Generation of Hope can be used when applying for jobs throughout the community. Some students who show leadership are also trained to become paid Clubhouse Teachers and Directors.
